Assess a Rising Sump Level While the Unit Runs
A running motor does not establish that collected water is leaving the pit effectively. The discharge route, equipment performance and continuing inflow can each affect the level. Report the rising water promptly without approaching wet electrical equipment.
Describe whether the unit starts, whether the level ever falls and whether water returns after stopping. Those are different parts of the operating sequence. You do not need to disconnect the pump or reset it in a flooded area to provide useful information.
A restricted discharge can reduce removal even when the unit runs. Return flow after shutdown can refill the pit, while continued incoming water may keep the pump active. The check valve helps prevent reverse flow; assessing it does not replace assessing the outlet and unit.
Roto-Rooter reviews accessible components together so the repair addresses the observed performance concern.

Choose Work That Addresses the Removal Problem
A connection, valve or control repair may be suitable when the identified fault and remaining equipment condition support it. Replacement may be appropriate when the pump is damaged or cannot meet the assessed arrangement's demands.
Selection needs pit fit, control clearance, lift and discharge resistance considered together. A larger power rating alone does not show that a replacement will perform appropriately. An unresolved outlet restriction can affect new equipment too.
The proposal should identify what is retained and which connected parts need work. That keeps the scope tied to water removal rather than treat a new unit as an automatic answer to a high level.
