Understand the Condition of the Sump Installation
The pump, control, pit and discharge each contribute to water removal. An assessment can identify a service concern and help explain whether repair or replacement is appropriate. A general service interval does not replace attention to the equipment's instructions and current condition.

Use a Planned Visit to Understand the Installation
A maintenance conversation can start with how the equipment currently operates. Note changes in starting, stopping, noise or water removal that you can observe safely. If the pit is usually dry, explain that as well; an absence of recent cycling does not describe what will happen when water arrives.
Keep any model information and instructions available without dismantling the installation. Care recommendations should fit those instructions, the condition found and the way the system is used, rather than a fixed schedule chosen for every pump.
